Well, the NFL actually did it. They actually suspended Tom Brady.
The NFL announced today that Brady will be suspended without pay for the first four games of 2015. The suspension comes as a result of the NFL’s recent report on Deflategate which indicated that the quarterback was “generally aware” of efforts to deflate the balls used at this year’s AFC Championship game.
According to NBC News, Brady will be “allowed to participate in all off-season training camp and pre-season activities, including pre-season games.”
In addition to Brady’s suspension, the New England Patriots will be fined $1 million and forced to forfeit its first-round picks in the 2016 and its fourth-round selection in the 2017 draft.
Moreover, CNBC.com notes that the reports came as a result of Brady’s “refusal to cooperate” when he was asked to produce evidence, as well as the fact that the star was not “fully candid” during investigation proceedings.
